MikeJ
What's the difference between semi-managed and fully-managed? What backup services (if any) are provided if you don't get "Remote Backup Services"? Is this a "locked in" price once one goes with that account (locked from price increases assuming the account stays within the plan)? What level of access is provided? Same as reseller accounts (cpanel and whm) or is there any additional level of access provided? Finally, is there a setup fee? -mike
Head Guru
Semi-Managed Server = We will set up the server for you including cPanel and all the extras. We will maintain the kernel and apply any software patches that are needed. Also we will assist you in troubleshooting any software issues that may arrise. Also, we maintain and replace any defective hardware that may occur. Since you are leasing the server you incur no replacement hardware. Software installs and other non-covered are billed at $65 per hour. Fully Managed = You name it. Everything as above but our techs will install and maintain any additional software or troubleshoot problems with cPanel at no charge. Access = You get full ROOT. This is YOUR server. Pricing = Locked until you cancel. Backup = There is no backup service provided with this server. You can add an additonal drive for a small one time fee. Hi Bill, Would you be willing to lease one to a former client, and a current competitor? And which data center those servers will be located? Any charge for additional ram? paco
I am interested in this server, but I have some questions (I have a platinum plan, and I have no experience as a reseller): - How many domains can I host? (I suppose the IPs you offer are for SSL domains, but I can host more than 8 non SSL domains. That's right?) - How many mysql DDBB can have a domain hosted in the server? (can they have as many databases as they want with the name that they want?) - Can I upload (ftp) databases to mysql/data? - Can I limit the bandwith, emails, hd space, etc. for the domains hosted in the server? Thanks in advance.
MikeJ
Head Guru will have to respond as to availability of these servers under this sale, but as for the rest... It's a dedicated server which means you can do anything you want as long as it still complies with TCH's TOS and AUP. That means unlimited domains, unlimited databases per domain, you can upload whatever you need. The servers are preinstalled for you with cPanel (including WebHost Manager) so you can do everything that cPanel allows (including limit bandwidth, diskspace, email space, etc... based on usage per month) or you can install other software. Augie
This brings up a question for me. Competitor is mentioned above, anyone who resells is competing with TCH. Right? It sounds like we aren't supposed to compete. Is that true? I may be reading into this wrong because there seems to be extenuating circumstances mentioned. Just want to make sure I'm ok. Thanx

It sounds like we aren't supposed to compete. Is that true? I may be reading into this wrong because there seems to be extenuating circumstances mentioned. Just want to make sure I'm ok. The case above was definitely extenuating circumstances. He made the post asking for a dedicated server after posting a bunch of libel about TCH. Would you sell someone services after they posted false negative information about you? I don't speak for the staff of TCH, but as you are a customer of TCH, reselling/competing with them isn't really any problem, since you're still paying TCH for the services you are reselling. PSF
I don't think they view resellers as competing, as I just 'stole' a customer from them with their help. I'd imagine that TCH feels that they are getting paid one way or another...at least in my case, the guy is paying exactly what he WAS paying, and I'm basically giving it right back to TCH. But at this point, I'm not a typical reseller. I'm just lining up enough clients to cover my costs, and that's about it. If I decide to host more sites down the road, that's fine... While I'm in this thread, what's the status of the new servers that were coming this week? Any news?
