  1. Thanks, Andy! It says that the files loaded properly, but the form still isn't working. http://www.100faces.org/ioncube/ioncube-loader-helper.php' Suggestions? Thanks, Gabe
  2. I'm trying to set up Ultimate Form Mail, as suggested, but am getting an error related to Ioncube: You can see the error here: http://www.100faces.org/contactform/contact.php Any suggestions? Thanks! -Gabe
  3. I, too, have noticed this problem with Horde lately and it's getting really annoying. Was some change made that caused this? I've always stored all my mail on my server, so it can't be related to a sudden influx of new email. I'm on Server 16. My wife is also experiencing this problem with a different domain, different email account, and different server: Server 10. What's going on?? Thanks, Gabe
  4. Horde is far superior to the others in terms of look and feel, functionality, and ease of use. Don't even bother with SquirrelMail or Neo. In fact, Horde is so much better, dare I suggest that TCH just get rid of the other two options altogether? Does anyone really use Squirrel or Neo after trying Horde at least once?? It would sure simplify the login process if Webmail just defaulted to Horde. -Gabe P.S. For the record, I prefer Pine via SSH and Apple Mail over Webmail, but when I do use Webmail, it's Horde all the way, baby.
  5. OK, I'll submit a help ticket to get set up with IMAP. Thanks, Gabe P.S. For anyone interested in benefits of IMAP, I just posted this.
  6. This is a good article describing the capabilities and advantages of IMAP over POP3, besides being a newer and more powerful protocol: http://www.imap.org/papers/imap.vs.pop.brief.html One great benefit of IMAP is the ability to access multiple mailboxes from a single client. For example, though I don't yet have IMAP mail set up here at TCH, I use a pseudo version of it by accessing my mail files directly on my server via Pine (they're in the flat mbox format). However, the only other two ways of accessing my mail are via Web mail and POP3 download. That is, let's say I'm logged into a different server via SSH and want to access my mail via Pine on server 2 without establishing a new SSH connection to my own mail server. This is where IMAP comes in. Without it, I cannot access my mail via Pine on server 2. I use Pine is the following way, which leverages other IMAP mail accounts that I have: 1) I access the mail on my own server. 2) I access a secondary mail account that I have with Fastmail, which is fully IMAP compatible. 3) I access a tertiary mail account also with Fastmail. In other words, through a single client application (Pine) I can quickly and easily toggle between three different mailboxes, in addition to the mail archives I store on my server (not IMAP). I can even save messages between accounts. IMAP also allows multiple clients to access a single mailbox concurrently. This is good when you access the same mail account from more than one computer. Otherwise the mailbox will lock and not update dynamically (you have to log out and back in to take back control of the session). IMAP is also good so that you can access your mail from any computer at any time; your mail does not get downloaded to one machine. -Gabe
  7. My top 3 desires (in order of importance): 1) Do not passively deactivate an account's ability to receive email when it reaches or exceeds disk capacity. Rather, generate an email warning to account owner, rather than simply preventing the account from receiving more email. Email is incredibly important and should NEVER simply be cut off without warning. This happened to me once during a full site backup. Perhaps a workaround would be for the backup file to be generated in a filespace separate from the account. To prevent a pile-up of backup files, give the user 24 hours to download it, then have it automatically deleted. Please consider this. It is very important. 2) More disk space. While TCH already offers the best value out there, more disk space never hurts. 3) Offer IMAP email. Why? Quite simply, "IMAP speeds up the mail process." Not only that, but it provides much more flexibility than POP3 or Web-only (Horde/Neo/SquirrelMail) access, and allows you to access your email from any computer using IMAP-compatible mail programs like Outlook, Mozilla, etc. (Of course, you can continue using Web mail, Pine, etc.) More: http://www.tamu.edu/neo/history/imap.html Oh, and cpanel supports IMAP. IMAP is also better over dial-up connections since it only downloads message headers to obtain listing of messages. As always, keep up the great work and reliability, TCH!

  9. Something cool I just discovered about the :fail: command for unrouted mail: You can set the text after the command to anything you want. After 5 years of using the same email address and finally getting fed up with spam, I've switched to a new address in my domain and have just set up the following in the default address area of the cpanel in case any legitimate people (not spammers) email my old address: >:fail: spambots be gone - people visit http://gabeanderson.com/contact to write to gabe ...and here's the top of the resulting bounced message: >Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim). A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: spam@gabeanderson.com forced failure: spambots be gone - people visit http://gabeanderson.com/contact to write to gabe I think it's pretty cool. -gabe
  10. cool! thanks very much, kelly. this fix worked great: ><div style="clear:both;"></div> ..at the end of my templates, just before the </body> tag. thanks again, gabe
  11. ah ha! i've just discovered that ALL emails were being routed to my spam box! but the outstanding problem remains: i still have spamassassin deactivated. thoughts? it seems to me this is a problem with a perl module on my server (16) - at least based on the error message noted earlier. -gabe
  12. help! what's going on?? emails to myself for testing purposes and from others are not showing up in my inbox! what happened?? i believe this may be the problem (related to spamassassin) - this is from my procmail log file: >razor2 check skipped: No such file or directory Can't locate Razor2/Client/Agent.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/Mail/SpamAssassin/Dns.pm line 377. in pine: >[Unexpected changes to folder (try restarting): Return-path: <gabean] followed by: >[MAIL FOLDER "INBOX" CLOSED DUE TO ACCESS ERROR] thanks, gabe UPDATE: YES, spamassassin was causing emails to disappear into nowhere! i deactivated spamassassin via the cpanel and emails are working now. but what about all the email i potentially lost?? where is it??
  13. OK, so here's an example (with verbose logging on) of some spam that was caught by SA via procmail (with changed login and mailbox names): >procmail: [16747] Thu Mar 13 13:02:07 2003 procmail: Assigning "MAILDIR=/home/UNIXLOGIN/mail/MYMAILBOX" procmail: Assigning "INCLUDERC=/home/UNIXLOGIN/procmail/rc.spamassassin" procmail: Executing "/usr/bin/spamassassin,-a" procmail: [16747] Thu Mar 13 13:02:08 2003 procmail: Match on "^X-Spam-Status: Yes" procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=/dev/null" procmail: Opening "/dev/null" procmail: Notified comsat: "UNIXLOGIN@0:/dev/null" From carlysantilli@clerk.com Thu Mar 13 13:02:07 2003 Subject: Try this out Folder: /dev/null Now the weird thing is that test emails to myself from internal & external accounts are (A) not showing up in the log file (all email should) and ( not showing up with x-spam headers. Along those lines, here's an example of spam (with headers intact) that just showed up in my inbox. Notice the lack of x-spam headers: >Return-path: <mdskmepprjl@redopti.com> Envelope-to: MYADDRESS@**** Delivery-date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 13:09:16 -0500 Received: from redopti.com ([216.19.163.136]) by MYSERVER.totalchoicehosting.com with smtp (Exim 3.36 #1) id 18tX8m-00062C-00 for MYADDRESSS@****; Thu, 13 Mar 2003 13:09:16 -0500 To: MYADDRESS@**** Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 12:09:59 -0500 Message-ID: <1047575399.7235@redopti.com> X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.72 [en] (X11; I; SCO_SV 3.2 i386) From: Amateurs Only <mdSkMePpRjL@redopti.com> Reply-To: <mdSkMePpRjL@redopti.com> Subject: Win $10,000 - Poetry Contest X-MimeOLE: Prodigy Compatibility V 4.cde6ea37 or later Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/html So why is some email being picked up by procmail and other email not? Thanks, Gabe
  14. Yes, it seems that procmail is only sort of working. And even that my rc.spamassassin file is only picking up some of the spam when I also have spamassassin enabled via the cpanel. But when I deactivate SA via the cpanel, the x-spam status (and other details) don't show up in the header. Currently, I do have SA enabled via cpanel and also have procmail and rc.spamassassin filters active. I also have a test filter for test@**** to go to a test mailbox. Here's a snippet from my log file: From grl17angelwaaa@aol.com Thu Mar 13 12:18:03 2003 Subject: Be Refinance free... Free online quote AA Folder: /dev/null 1425 From MYLOGIN@MYSERVER.totalchoicehosting.com Thu Mar 13 12:46:28 2003 Subject: testing to test Folder: in-test The in-test filter tells me that the recipe file I've included for my mailing lists is working (rc.lists). I also know this to be true since emails from mailing lists ARE going where they should. The email from grl17angelwaaa@aol.com sent to /dev/null tells me that it was caught by the rc.spamassassin file I have connected to procmail (since I have that mail going to /dev/null) as opposed to being caught by the cpanel-activated SA. Confusing, right? I've turned on verbose logging for a bit to keep an eye out for incoming spam to determine exactly what it's doing in case that will help me get to the bottom of this. Other thoughts? Thanks again, Gabe
  15. Thanks for the reply and input, David. I tried reconfiguring procmail and spamassassin per your suggestion and closely followed the steps on spamassassin.org. Still no luck. I wonder if I'd have more luck with spamd? -Gabe P.S. Great MT site and plugins! I'll have to check some of those out.
