mike
Hi everyone. Would anyone consider telling me why I can't seem to get this site's placement on search engines? http://www.bestchildrensbooks.org Appreciate any suggestions. thanks
OldTimer
I see Google PR is PR2 and has indexed 9 pages. MSN search has indexed 16 pages. Didn't check how many backlinks you have. You may want to look into that. Greg Edited November 2, 2005 by OldTimer
Deverill
Backlinks (links from other, preferably like-minded, sites) will help tremendously. Also remember that, at least recently, Google has had as much as a 1-year wait time to get listed. It is (was?) their attempt to get better results for us. Don't waste your time with submission services or any submission for the "big" search engines - they find almost everything listed by following links - not so much on "submit URL" forms. The directories are different so go ahead and use their submit forms. Anything else, just ask.

zilla
I've been looking into this topic myself, and here's a few things I noticed on your page when I did the "view source" thing that might help. First.... I bet there's tons and tons of websites that sell children's books, but not as many that sell "personalized children's books". So, I'd put that keyword phrase as your first one in the meta tags. I read somewhere you were supposed to list them in order of importance. Second... on the same note, I'd put "personalized children's books" in between the <title> </title> commands rather than just "children's books." JTD
This might help also. It is what I get when I submit your site to a meta tag analyzer. Meta tags analysis. Title: Title meta tag contains no errors. This tag contains 16 characters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title relevancy to page content is excellent. The Title relevancy to page content is 100%. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: Found no description meta tag. The description meta tag is used by most of the search engines. Consider to add a description meta tag. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keywords: Found no keywords meta tag. The keyword meta tag is still used by many search engines. Consider to add a keyword meta tag. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robots: The Robots meta tag contains no errors. This tag contains 16 characters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author: The Author meta tag contains no errors. This tag contains 16 characters Also this doesnt help either. >Total links for www.bestchildrensbooks.org/ are 18 - Alexa traffic rank - Wayback machine go way back Total 18 Google. 0 Yahoo. 4 AllTheWeb. 4 AltaVista. 4 MSNHotBot. 6 Inktomi. 0 Edited November 23, 2005 by JTD
zilla
hmmm.... if your keywords aren't being read.....looking at your meta tags more closely, you're using "Meta http-equiv" instead of "meta name" in some of your tags. And, you don't have any commas in your keyword tag. You also might be getting penalized because the word "book" appears so many times in your keywords. Here's an example of how you might want to change it. The keyword phrase is listed, and then extra keywords are separated by commas with no spaces: <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="personalized children's books, baby, child, story, book, personal, kid"> <META NAME="description" CONTENT="Create personalized childrens books that feature your child as the main character in the story. Kids immediately love these books when they open them and see THEIR name as the main character.">
