Letsencrypt.org

We are very aware of this Let's Encrypt. We have been considering rolling this out to our client base, but we are also very concerned about it at the same time.

Mostly because of this

https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3007326/lets-encrypt-has-issued-15-000-ssl-certificates-to-paypal-phishing-sites

and then there is this

http://www.zdnet.com/article/lets-encrypt-accidentally-leaks-user-email-data/

My biggest issue is the frequent renewals and the lack of oversight on Let's Encrypt.

We will be rolling this out to the shared client base soon, but we have just been watching the market and seeing where we are. This latest paypal phishing issue placed more doubt in our minds.

Thank you for your continued business and support.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the update. I agree that Let's Encrypt need to up their game, but their facilities have also enabled me to setup SSL on several of my websites on other hosts.

This is becoming a service differenciator for me, it would be great to see this available on TC as soon as possible.

Regards,

Pete

Late to the party on this one - so as of now SSL is not available for install/purchase on TCH, but may be in the future? Any sense yet as to how far down the road it is?

I'm seeing that WordPress is going to require SSL for all sites at some point this year (https://semperplugins.com/wordpress-requires-sites-to-use-https/) and for my own peace of mind I'd like to get it in place as well.

Bill, any updates?

Thanks,

Dan

Dedicated SSL $32 / Install - $115 / Yearly

That. $115/yr doesn't work for those here who aren't businesses. And shared SSL has downsides too - like loss of your domain name in the address bar.

I am in the camp that would like to see Let's Encrypt added to TCH shared hosting. I'd be willing to pay a small (<$50) one-time setup fee. There are tools available to handle the automated cert renewals, so that should mitigate concerns about ongoing maintenance.

TCH has some great features over other providers. Please don't fall behind the times. SSL is important for all.

I have several clients who are asking for free Letsencrypt.org certs. Can anyone tell us if we will be billed for installation, and billed again every three months, if we try using Letsencrypt.org? Details please. Thank you!
