clemrick
I am working on a test site and cannot get to the wordpress sign in page. The domain name I gave WP when I set it up was a dummy name and doesn't exist. I have done this before, but it isn't working this time or I have forgotten how to get into WordPress using the IP address. XX.XX.XX.XX/~cpanel-username/wp-admin. However it tries to resolve to dummy-domain/wp-admin and of course goes no where. What am I doing wrong this time? I can see the website by going to XX.XX.XX.XX/~cpanel-username but clicking on the sign-in link there doesn't get me to the sign in page. Thanks for any help. TCH-Bruce
You should be able to do it without modifying the settings. In the wp-config.php file add the following two lines. define(‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘http://your-server-IP/~username’); define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘http://your-server-IP/~username’); Just remember to remove them once the site propagates. clemrick
Thank you, Bruce. I gave that a try, but it didn't want to work for me. I put the test site on a subdomain, which is working now.
