We have now made changes to the status pages that will allow for easier maintence, therefore, these pages will be updated daily as we continue the data center migration. The most noticeable change you will see is that the network status and uptime stats have been combined into one page. You can view our entire server farm on this page or select only your server for more information. And it is like stealing bandwith. I'll bet the geniuses (I don't mean that sarcastically) behind the curtain could code something that would serve up a daily updated number. Once daily would eliminate the server burden and doing a number rather than an image would eliminate the bandwidth burden. They just need the right incentive from the Head Guru. Admittedly, this is not a priority, but would be a nice addition when the migration is done. Just an up time percentage like "99.983%" but for my purposes it doesn't need to be updated every time the page loads, just once a day would be fine. But multiply anything times a few hundred servers and a several tens of thousands of domains and it all adds up. Not to mention the time it will take to put it together and maintain it. And there is the cost of all the help desk tickets that will come in if it ever stops working. If you want a cute little button for your site check out host-tracker.com. It's free for everyone and only counts against your bandwidth. Otherwise, why not just have a text link that says something like "Server Uptime: Almost Always" and have it link to the tchstatus.com page for your server? This monitoring simply monitors our core network routers.
