  1. I have the same recurring email problems. I've also been with TCH for several years, and currently have three websites hosted on TCH. The same email delivery problems crop up, particularly in the past 6 months. I agree, it does get frustrating.
  2. I'm not running either on my website. Question - Given that TCH is probably doing what they can in terms of security, are there additional things that we as users can do to protect the security of our websites? I'm assuming there aren't any anti-virus programs that we can run in our home directories, correct?
  3. I believe my user was using McAfee, but I'm not 100% sure. However, I'm not sure I have much confidence in the McAfee false positive explanation, if other websites are having the exact same error.....the thing that we all share in common is TCH. My user also said it was the only website that generated that virus error. And a previous poster said he was using Wordpress, whereas I'm using a different publishing system altogether. My website is currently on Server102. Could it be that specific server?
  4. I am also experiencing a virus problem on my website. One of my users emailed me with the following virus report (he received this when pulling up the homepage): Script execution blocked YOU-GOT-IT\STran iexplore.exe Script executed by iexplore.exe VBS/Psyme (Trojan) http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100749.htm
  5. Thanks, I do have a ticket open now. I believe the plan is to move my site to a new server. But, a user just emailed me this morning saying that when he opened up the webpage, his anti-virus program detected a virus on the website. I've asked him to send details of the virus if he can. Is TCH aware of this? Is this related to the javascript errors, and the reason I'm getting switched to another server?
  6. I'm not sure where to post this, so apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum. I am suddenly having weird HTML and javascript errors popping up on my website. I am running Joomla 1.0.11. The website frontend and administrative backend have been running smoothly. I have not installed any new components or made any changes to the system files in my public_html directory. All of a sudden, the website started showing javascript errors on the frontend and backend. On the front end, the problems appear only in the website forum (Joomlaboard 1.1.2). Users cannot view the last 2-3 topics in a thread longer than 10 posts. I've tried changing the Joomlaboard settings so that the number of posts displayed is different, but no change. Also, users are not able to post new topics. When they hit the "New Topic" button, some HTML code appears where the text box should be. In the administrative backend, there are even more problems. Certain admin menu screens do not load completely. If I try to open one, it loads 75% of the way, then stops. It's like someone chopped off the botton 25% of the page. A few times, there has been a snippet of HTML code, such as <img src="pathtosomething but that is also cut off. I've tried unpublishing components and modules, but some of the administrative buttons don't work. When I click on them, I just get a Javascript error and nothing happens. Here are some of the Javascript errors I'm getting: >Error: document.adminForm.task has no properties Source File: http://www.mywebsite.org/includes/js/joomla.javascript.js Line: 349 >Error: document.adminForm.hidemainmenu has no properties Source File: http://www.mywebsite.org/includes/js/joomla.javascript.js Line: 326 Please help! I have no idea why this is happening, since I haven't made any changes to any of the system files or components. THANKS!!!!!!!
  7. I did submit a ticket. The problem was fixed for only one day. The email and mailng list are not working again. I have reopened the ticket. Again. I am using the mailing list function that is provided to us in Cpanel under the Mail menu. As for the forwarders, are you saying that I just go directly to the Forwarders function in the Mail menu? Skip the create an account step? Why would this be any different? I host another website on TCH, and I have the same mail account setup/forwarding profiles in that account. I have not experienced any email problems with the other website in its 3 years.
  8. I manage a website for a rowing team. I've set up email accounts for each team member, forwarding to their personal email accounts. Sometimes forwarding function works, sometimes it doesn't. I've also set up a mailing list for the team (i.e., team@mywebsite.com), and it seems that I am the only one receiving messages. Is this a recurring problem with the mail system?
  9. Hi - I'm managing a website for a boating team. I've created an email account for each team member, each of which filters to their personal emails (i.e., teammemberA@mywebsite.org --> teammemberA@yahoo.com). I'd also like to give the members the option of checking their email via Horde. However, I can't figure out how to give each mail account a separate login. For example, if I log into the horde email as captain@mysite.com, I can also see the inboxes for member1@mysite.com, member2@mysite.com, etc. I don't want this to happen. When member1@mysite.com logs into his/her Horde email, I'd like for them to view their own account ONLY. Is there a way to do this?
  10. Hi - I've blocked an IP address from my site. Now I'm wondering: - When that IP address tries to access my site, what do they see? Do they get a message that says they're blocked? Or do they just get a 404 error? - If they get a "you are blocked" message, can I edit that text somehow? - Will Awstats continue to log their access attempts? Or will that IP just never show up again in my stats? Thanks.
  11. Hi - Maybe I'm not understanding the concept of "referrer spam," but who are they referring to me? And why would they want to refer someone to me, if my site has nothing (thank goodness) to do with their website? I mean, what's the benefit to them to refer people to my website? Are they doing this in hopes that I happen to have a script on my website that shows recent referrers? Oh, and thanks for all the helpful responses.
  12. Hi - I'm not sure if this question belongs here or in the Site Security forum...... I've recently checked my AwStats through Cpanel, and was looking at the section titled "Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)" under Referers: Refering Sites. I recognize most of the sites listed (they belong to friends who link to me), but there is also a number of websites that I don't recognize. I clicked on one, and it took me to a pornography site!!!! I don't know how this website got my URL. It doesn't even have my URL listed on the page anywhere, so I don't know why it's showing up in my Referring Sites list. Also, I don't know how they got my URL, and I DO NOT want my site associated with them whatsoever. There are also other sites in the Referring Sites list that are about poker and gambling. Does anyone know how this happened? And how I can get my site unlinked from them? These I AM A SPAMMER/poker/gambling sites only show up in my Awstats, so thankfully, they don't bother anyone visiting my website. But, I'm very, very concerned about HOW these sites got my address, and why they are linking to me?????????? My site's just a personal blog! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Hi - I'm about to upgrade my Gallery2 installation, and I'm a little confused about where I'm supposed to put my Gallery directories, and what permissions I'm supposed to set for them. The instructions for installing Gallery2 state the following: Are they saying I shouldn't have my g2data folder in the same directory as my blog? (i.e., public_html/) Does this mean I should install my g2data into /g2data instead of /public_html/g2data? And isn't 777 really dangerous in terms of security? Based on instructions, this is where I've placed my Gallery2 directories: g2data folder --> / The folder that I upload my Gallery photos into --> /uploaded_images Gallery2 installation --> /public_html/gallery2 Is this correct? Please advise - I'm feeling kinda confused right now. Thanks!
  14. I spent the past 2 days researching the Unknown Host Exception error, and fiddling with the settings in both Blogger.com and TCH.....and have FINALLY solved the problem. First of all, I did try inserting the actual IP address, and removing the "ftp://" from the address. However, the problem was on the TCH side and not in my Blogger settings. For some reason, TCH suddenly stopped allowing me to publish new Blogger posts via FTP. For the past year, I have been posting through Blogger using my TCH username and password. This is the exact same username and password that I enter when using an FTP client or IE. However, all of a sudden, this login info didn't work anymore for some reason. So, I had to go into cPanel, create a whole new FTP account, and then update my Blogger settings with the new FTP login/password. I have no idea why the TCH account would suddenly see a difference between FTP login via Blogger versus FTP login via Internet Explorer. Anyways, I wanted to post info on how I solved this issue in case other TCH members run into the same problem. I did submit a ticket to TCH Support, but I didn't get much response because they don't support 3rd party apps (*shrug*).
  15. I switched back to using regular FTP, and there is no passive mode option.
