Microsoft Shuts Me Down

I leave my computer on all the time. I turn off the screen.

I'm getting notifications from Microsoft when I turn on my screen:

I've also taken a screen shot of further info from Microsoft:

I use Firefox because Internet Explorer constantly shuts me down when I'm working on a screen. No idea why.

I use Windows XP. I have 512 MB of memory ... one slot still empty.

Is it an issue with lack of memory?

That is your FSecure virus program that's causing the fault. I've never used FSecure so sorry I don't have any ideas for you.

Oh, that never occured to me. I will contact them and get it sorted out. Is that also the reason I am getting the shut down when I'm on the net?

No clue, are you getting an error before is shuts down?
Yes. I'll be typing away and all of a sudden up comes the apology. As we speak I can't recall whether I would be typing a doc or entering info on a forum ... but it is only on IE.

I have been using F-Secure as the anti-virus at work since 2004. I have only one time seen a similar thing. It was tied directly to the web filtering component. Once that was uninstalled the errors went away. What version are you using? I have experience with F-Secure Client Security, F-Secure for Workstations and F-Secure for Servers. I have never tried the consumer version, F-Secure Internet Security, but it is closest to the Client Security version, the only difference I know of is the component that allows it to be controlled by a central server. You might also check the firewall as I have had some issues with it at times. If worst comes to worst you might try an uninstall and reinstall. If you are using the consumer version it might not allow you to uninstall single components, but if it does start with the web filtering component. I'll check back here on Monday in case you have any more questions about this. Good luck.

I informed Shaw. They suggested "it could be that a certain function or task that IE is doing that is interfering with Shaw Secure."

They told me to "watch it to see if IE 7 (which I just installed) stopped the problem" ... which it has not - or - uninstall Shaw Secure and reinstall it and do the same with IE 7 (which I don't really want to do.)

I am using version 2.0.

This "problem" is not stopping me from functioning on the computer ... it just bugs me that it's on my screen most mornings ... I keep sending Microsoft the notifications - and wondering what the heck they do with all those zillions of notifications they get. I must have sent them hundreds!

I think I will have to get the Shaw folks on the phone and get them to walk me through reinstalling their program AGAIN. I don't like to do it without somebody holding my hand. :tongue_ss:
