  1. Last night we took down buserver3 for a failed RAID drive replacement. Upon bringing the server back online after maintenance, the RAID array should have begun to rebuild. However, the server did not recognize a second drive in the RAID 5 array. If two or more drives fail in a RAID 5 array, the array is broken. Unfortunately we were unable to get the RAID volume back online. It is not typical that we experience 2 drive failures at once, which is why we opt to use RAID 5, as it offers better performance. However, because we have encountered such a situation, we have chosen to create a new RAID 6 array on the server, which will continue to run even after two drive failures. This will help to ensure that we never find ourselves in a situation like this again. We have already began repopulating the backup server from local backups on each server. If you have any individual questions or concerns, feel free to contact us via live chat or the help desk link in my signature. Thank you,
  2. Hi there, Judging by your post, it seems that this is a new computer for you, correct? ATI Catalyst is a program bundled with the drivers for your graphics processing unit (GPU) or video card. It allows you to customize how your computer displays things, and allows for other customizations. CCC.exe is the process for this program. It is similar to the NVIDIA GeForce driver program you may have had on your previous PC. If you'll look at the CCC.exe process in your task manager, you should see it running from the C:\ Program Files\ATI Technology directory (or Program Files (x86)). If its running from this directory, you should have no concern over whether or not it is a legitimate process. Also, it is definitely good practice to keep your drivers updated for all hardware running on your PC, so there is no harm in updating this. It is possible to remove this program, but should not be necessary. If you really want to remove this program, or would just like more information on the process, this guide should be helpful: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/8679/what-is-ccc.exe-and-why-is-it-running/ Hope this helps,
