#254371 Filezilla Errors, Security Weakness

Posted by TCH-Dick on 03 January 2015 - 02:19 AM

1) Do you have any idea what would cause the parsing error I described, and is there a workaround?

My best guess at this would be related to data type, but it can be caused many things such as firewall/antivirus programs to a bad connection. Try this page for a starting point, https://wiki.filezil...t.org/Data_Type

2) Is it likely that the security breach explains this error?

This is probably the least likely issue, but I wouldn't rule it out. There have been issues over the years of fake/infected copies of filezilla.

3) Am I best advised to abandon FileZilla and download another FTP program?

If you choose to stick with it, review your settings thoroughly and insure your install came from the official source. Of course most important but maybe inconvenient, disable the option to store your passwords.

4) If so, which one?

I personally use SecureCRT as it fits my daily work needs, but it a paid program and a huge overkill for average FTP work. Prior to that I was using the free program WinSCP and as far as I know it stores the passwords in the Windows registry. (I'm assuming you are on Windows)

#253489 Not Getting Mail

Posted by TCH-Dick on 12 May 2014 - 05:24 PM

You can verify your email configuration in your cPanel. Once you are logged into your cPanel, locate the "Mail" section then click on the "Email Accounts" icon. Once on the Email Accounts page, locate your email address and select the "More" drop-down, then click on "Configure Email Account". You will then be presented with several configuration options. Make sure you looking at the "Manual Settings" section, you do not want to use the auto-configure for an existing account in your mail client.

Concerning the sporadic mail issues, it is best to contact our support team at https://support.totalchoicehosting.com . They can review your mail logs and the server for any issues, as well as offer guidance on any errors you have received from hotmail.

#253425 Openssl - Heartbleed Vulnerability

Posted by TCH-Dick on 11 April 2014 - 01:01 AM

Just some additional information for any that does choose to have their cert reissued(that purchased from us).

After contacting us the following steps will occur:

  • We will generate a new Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and Private Key, which will be used to reissue and install the new certificate.
  • We will have to verify domain ownership again, how long this takes will depend on the certificate type. Most will be within in an hour.
  • Once verified, the certificate is reissued and we will reinstall the new certificate.
  • The old certificate will then be automatically revoked  within 12 to 24 hours after being reissued. Correction: This only applies to a small percentage of certificates through us. If you have a Comodo certificate from us, your serial number will need to be recorded and we will have to manually revoke it.

Update from our admin team, this only affected 28% of our shared servers. If you want to know if your servers was affected or not, you can run the simple php script I have attached here.

#253278 Will We Have Access To The New Paper Lantern Theme?

Posted by TCH-Dick on 10 March 2014 - 02:15 PM

Hi telcor,

I apologize that no one has responded here quickly.

The short answer is at the moment, no this theme is not available enabled on our shared/reseller hosting plans.

The reason for this is that the paper lantern is and will remain a "Work in Progress" for cPanel for what appears to be at least a couple months. Part of me wants to applaud cPanel for jumping in with both feet on this theme, however,  we really don't care to force our clients to be guinea pigs after watching the X4 theme development being outright halted in January.

With that said, If you really want to take it for a spin, just open a ticket and we will gladly get you switched over to the new theme.

#251897 Inysh Server Down A Lot Lately

Posted by TCH-Dick on 15 April 2013 - 01:43 PM

You are correct, and this server has been rebooted 3 times this month due to memory issues. Prior to this month there were network issues that affected everyone, which is why we started network upgrades.

We have scheduled a hardware check this week for Inysh to see what we can do to resolve this.

#251550 Cpanel Fantastico Software Updates

Posted by TCH-Dick on 10 February 2013 - 04:50 PM

We understand the frustration with Fantastico and to be completely honest have consider replacing it over the past year. However, we chose to hold off for the next major version which starts its beta in the coming week. We are looking forward to testing this new version as it "makes it possible to upgrade as soon as a script update is provided by the script developer". This means we can roll things out from our end without having to wait on Fantastico to provide us with updates.

We will keep everyone updated once we have full access to the new version and have done some testing.
