Yes they work just fine. I use FP2003. The only features that I know for sure won't work are the Sharepoint services. There may be some seldom used features that don't work, but I am not aware of any but Sharepoint, and I really have no need for those at all. The Remote Site interface in 2003 is soooo much better than previous versions, especially the ability to publish from remote to local (very helpful when working on your site on several different computers).

Hi everyone

I am looking at setting up a form and having the results emailed to someone.

Microsoft FrontPage Help says:

To collect form results in an e-mail message, contact your Web server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP) (ISP: A business that provides access to the Internet for such things as electronic mail, chat rooms, or use of the World Wide Web. Some ISPs are multinational, offering access in many locations, while others are limited to a specific region.) to ensure that the server is running Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions (FrontPage Server Extensions: A set of programs and scripts that support authoring in FrontPage and extend the functionality of a Web server.), SharePoint Team Services version 1.0 from Microsoft, or Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.

Additionally, the server must be configured to send e-mail. Contact your server administrator or your Internet service provider (ISP) (ISP: A business that provides access to the Internet for such things as electronic mail, chat rooms, or use of the World Wide Web. Some ISPs are multinational, offering access in many locations, while others are limited to a specific region.) to find out if the Web server that hosts your Web site is confiured to send e-mail.

On http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...?showtopic=3910

it has a tutorial that looks like this is possible if I have FrontPage extensions installed on the site, but

But here

(on

http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...;hl=SharePoint)

it says SharePoint isn't and will never be available so I am wondering if this will work?

If not, then how can I do a form that would be submitted through email?

Thanks for any advice!

Gabi

You will need to find a form processing script. You can find many at hotscripts.com

Thank you, Bruce.

Any suggestion on which one is best - and free and easy to set up? I know that is asking a lot but I am new to using scripts other than some java editing for menus.

I found a good one. Its called Free Contact Form and its at http://www.freecontactform.com/

I have the form posted at http://www.claytonworks.com/form.php

So far the only problem I am having is its sending two emails when someone submits the form. I know how to delete one so its not that big a deal but I have asked the support team if they know why. They did answer me when I asked about having more than one form on a site, and about sending the form to more than one persons email address:

You are correct, you can use it for more than one form - but for different addresses from the forms you will need to create a new config file for each form (just rename the main one, and change the email address).

And yes, you should be able to use ; (semi colon) to separate email addresses.

Then I asked:

So if I do that then on the form.php where it says

// you MUST include the config.php file before your form

include 'config.php';

would I change 'config.php' to the new name in both places on that section so it will know where to look?

and I haven't heard back on that yet.

But so far I am happy with the script - and it wasn't hard to customize to the look I wanted for the website. But instead of using the semicolon to send to two of us I am using forwarding. At some point I may need the other way so its good to know.

To create a second form you would name the second config.php file something else (config2.php). I would assume you would also need to create a copy of the form processing script with an alternate name.

As for sending two emails, sorry can't help you there without seeing the processing script.

Thats what I thought too.

I'll see if they answer me, but the script is downloadable at http://www.freecontactform.com/

Thank you.

I had a look at the script

and it looks like the form processor will handle many forms.

just copy the config file and rename it for each form

and change the include in the form to match the new config file name.

I will take a better look when I get home tomorrow.
