TCH-Rob
Hey guys, I am working on a banner for a chile pepper site I am building. I need some input. I am new to Photoshop so I thought I would post here and see how I can make this better, or what needs to be changed. I am also looking at making the background another color, black looks good but I am not sure I want that as a main color on my site. Image attached below. TCH-Don
Interesting effect, but maybe a thin black outline around the letters will make them stand out better.
stevevan
I think it looks pretty cool. The only thing I find wrong (and maybe it's just me) is the white above the letters makes it hard to differentiate where the letters end and the flames begin. I'd maybe play around with the background color a bit, too. (It's not for HG's new pepper bar at Quizno's is it?)
TCH-Rob
(It's not for HG's new pepper bar at Quizno's is it?) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it is now that you mention it.
TCH-Rob
By the way, the white should be there to give the illusion that it is that hot. I am playing with it some more though. I tried to darken it up a bit in the lettering to make it more readable. Changing the background color makes things much harder to see. I was able to try a white and grey as well. stevevan
Would maybe a shade of blue help? The letters on the black background are now a bit easier to read.
TCH-Don
I like the black background but would create a layer below the type and make a selection of the letters and stroke it outside 1 pixel of black to make a black outline so the letters will show up over the lighter background areas. TCH-Bruce
I think Don may be on to something. Looks good Rob.
TCH-Rob
Don, I tried that but the mask over the top text is not letting the stroke show. I was able to darken the text a bit more. I am still looking at making that stroke come through.
TCH-Don
Ok if the text text is done using text tool then try effects for that layer drop shadow distance 0 blur about 4 or so intensity up a lot color black this will produce a black halo don't blur too much. This way you can keep the light text color.
TCH-Rob
The text is actually black and I am using a white to black gradient and mask on the layer above it. Every change I have made to the text layer itself maken no difference in the outcome of the final product.
TCH-Rob
This whole time none of you could tell me that I can't spell? So that's what all that laughing I heard was. Not that it matters, I am changing the name. I think it could bring traffic that I may not want. Still, this is the logo type that I am looking for. Thanks for the help guys, I will have to play around with it.
