  1. Wow.... I guess I am not coming back after all. I signed up for your hosting Sunday and yet I still havent received a word yet regarding my account info. I even tried Live Chat last night and the guy told it will be "soon". Not sure whats going on in the hosting world these days, but I needed a host yesterday, not "soon" or sometime in the near future. I think companies are forgetting that customers are what keeps the business alive, without us you are pretty much up the proverbial creek. I long for the days when business used to bend over backwards to make their customers happy. All I can say at this point is WOW....just wow. Got myself a new host today.
  2. Hi everyone, I was a long time customer of TCH and unfortunately I left about a year ago for what seemed at the time, "a better deal" Well, after a year of being with this other host, I have about had it with them and realized I wasnt actually getting a better deal. You truly do get what you pay for and it was painful relearning this. Anyway, I am coming back to TCH but I had a question. I purchased a domain name recently thru my previous host and I was wondering how I can transfer it to TCH. I have a control panel on my other host where I can change the nameserver info but I am pretty sure that once I dump this host I wont have access to it. I hope this question makes sense. I need to get this done before I quit the other host to avoid any future headaches. Thank you in advance.
  3. Hehe...::shrugs: I guess I was looking at disk space on my host, doesnt that put a back-up of each DB into my directory each day? Basically we do changes to our databases approx 3 days/week, and we wanted to back the info up before the update in case anything went wrong, in which case we could just revert back. By the way, I dont hink I have ever stated this on the forums, but I LOVE TCH. IMO its the best host out there. I have been with you guys for over 2 years now, never had a problem with your service, and the customer support is OUTSTANDING! :Pats TCH and its employees on the back::
  4. Hrrrm, perhaps I wasnt clear enough or I misunderstand your response. Ler me clarify a bit. In the chron manager there is a list of days I can select to run the job, clicking on just one, it will run the job that day. Is it possible to control+click multiple days in the list and have it run or do i have to set up a seperate job for Mon, Wed, and Fri. runs? Thanks for your help and patience.
  5. Touching on this same subject. . . When I go to make a chron job for this, I am using the standard chron manager in my cPanel. I was wondering, under the "Weekdays" selection list, am I able to select multiple days, such as monday, wednesday, and friday or am I supposed to create a seperate chron job for each day? Thanks in advance
  6. I am attempting to do the same thing and having no luck whatsoever. I even had my domain locked once because of bad password attempts. I am a bit confused here with the steps. I created the folder...assigned it a username and password using the password protect directories in cPanel. Lets call it user John, PW Doe So, now to the FTP Manager. Do i create the user using the username I made in the password protect directories, such as John@domain.com? Also you said they log into ftp as ftp:domain...isnt that supposed to be ftp://domain.com or ftp.domain.com? hehe, this is a bit confusing and i think i may be putting too much thought into it Edit: I think I got the info correct but I am having a different problem. Basically I am using phpBB. I want to allow certain members to add attachments. I go into the config screen, enter all the ftp info and there is a button that i can use to test connection. When I do so I get the mnessage: Unable to enable/disable FTP Passive Mode. There is a radio button that says "Enable FTP Passive Mode The PASV command requests that the remote server open a port for the data connection and return the address of that port. The remote server listens on that port and the client connects to it." I click yes, I click no...i still get the error message. What can i do to get around this?
  7. Got it. . . Thank you all for the help
  8. Hello, Concerning the original question, can you give me the time info for Server 87 please? Much appreciated
  9. hello all, I have just finished up perfecting my site(well almost) and I have found one last problem. My site uses PHPnuke which was installed thru my cPanel. I visit my forums and have noticed that topics that have been read are still marked as unread. If I click the "mark all topics as read" link, they still show up as unread. This obviously poses a problem as I cant tell what is new and what is old. I have tried going into the forums (phpbb built into phpnuke) configuration and removing any reference too cookie paths and names. After each attempt I have cleared my cookies, quit my browser and revisited the site and the problem still persist. The reason for doing this is because PhpNuke sets its own cookie when someone logs in and then with the default cookie being set in the forum config it sets a similar cookie. I have looked on the PHPBB sites and found a few fixes, but these seem to be for the stand alone versions of PhPBB. Can anyone give me any insight as to what to do to fix this or explain to me what a typical cookie path would look like? I have tried almost everything I can think of and am totally lost on how to fix this.
  10. Hello, I had covered this issue on these forums about 6 monts ago. After a long vacation from web publishing, I went back to the post I made previously to address my SSI problems. After scouring the topic over and over, I just cannot get my SSI to function. I was sure whether I should continue the original post so I decided to start fresh and see if I can finally get this to work. Currently my problem is this: i am using Ikonboard for my web forums and I want to use the News feature, but for the life of me I cant get it to display. I am using dreamweaver for page creation and have tried doing this with an html page as well as a fresh php page to no avail. I insert <!--#include virtual="/exocet/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/ssi/newsdata.txt" --> (exocet is a subdomain) and the tables show up in design view within Dreamweaver. I then upload the file as index.html and when I try to view it it shows up as blank. I have used the same procedure after creating a new php page and uploaded that as index.php with no results as well. I have checked my .htaccess files and in each directory this is what they read: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html .shtml Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes AddType application/x-httpd-CGI .CGI AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .html AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml I added the line AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html .shtml to the top line of my .htaccess file as directed in my previous post and I still cant get the darn thing to work. I had a full head of hair when I first attempted to accomplish this task and now I fear I may have to run out and buy some Rogaine if this problem persists. I was hoping that some kind soul could walk me thru this to finally get my news info on my homepage. Thanks for your patience. Edit: Concerning my .htaccess file, I found these instructions from the ikonboard forums, but when I tried that I got all kinds of errors and couldnt even access my index page: Place this where you want the news to appear on your page Code Sample <!--#include virtual="http://exocet.digitalpalatte.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/ssi/newsdata.txt" --> "The HTML file that must be renamed to end with SHTML and you need to modify your .htaccess file in your root dir as well. This is mine, for example: Code Sample AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml AddType text/html .shtml AddHandler server-parsed .shtml DirectoryIndex index.shtml index.html "
  11. Ok, I finally got it...thanks to Don enlightening me on PHP. Like I mentioned, I knew absolutely zero when it came to php, but after sleuthing thru Dreamweaver, I basically created a fresh php page then called the file I needed....worked like a charm. My first PHP page! Thank you all for the help and responses, you guys are the best!
  12. Thank you for the warm welcome. When I first looked at my htaccess file, there was nothing in it at all. Also, I know absolutely nothing concerning php so I hope you can spare a bit of patience. I am a bit confused here as far as what is required in the above statement, and what are variables(?) Is $_SERVER exactly what I use, or is that the name of my server? next along the line...'DOCUMENT_ROOT' Is it safe to assume that is the path to the file I want displayed? and are the quotes (') mandatory? Last but not least menu.php must be the name of the file I want to use? Sorry to be a pain here, what I am trying to accomplish is to generate the news file from my ikonboard into my homepage. It sound pretty easy at first, but its turning into a bit of a mess for me.
  13. OK, using cPanel to edit/upload my files was something I wasnt aware of, thanks for the tip. However, i took your advice and edited the .htaccess files thru cpanel and added the following lines: Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes AddType application/x-httpd-CGI .CGI AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .html AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml I still get the same errors. I am a bit short on time right now, so when I have free time later today I will tackle this problem by starting fresh...creating an .htaccess file and uploading it thru cPanel. Thanks for your help so far...I should have waited to address this problem while I had time to see it through, but I will keep you posted on my efforts.
  14. I am having somewhat of a similar problem. Whenever I call up the page, i get an error saying "[an error occurred while processing this directive]" I tried doing as one poster did by including the lines in the .htaccess file, but it seems to be invisible. I can see the ,htaccess files thru my ftp app in my main direcory and subdirectory on the server, but when I download .htaccess to my computer directory, it isnt visible. I used BBEdit to "open hidden" then edited the file and then uploaded it back to the server thru Dreanweaver but i still get the same "[an error occurred while processing this directive]" msg. First, I want to start by asking how do I even make the .htaccess file visible to me? I think once I can find a solution to this problem, I can figure out how to get my SSI to finally run. Thank you in advance for your input Update: I fear I may have made matters worse After editing my .htaccess files, I now get the following when I call up my test page: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> [an error occurred while processing this directive] </body> </html> Oh Gods of web design, have I sinned?
