Photoshop Cs6 - Font Issue

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and trying to install a font on my computer so I can use it in Photoshop CS6 but I cannot for the life of me make it work and I feel my computer is on the verge of going out the window because its driving me insane!

I am trying to install "swiss 721 bt bold condensed" so I have downloaded the file from http://www.fontpalace.com/font-details/Swiss+721+Bold+Condensed+BT/ (Its a True Type Font) so it should be working fine.

  • I have tried copy and pasting the font into "%windir%\fonts" and it says its there and installed but when I load photoshop it still tells me that the font is not installed

  • I have tried putting it in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts" & "C:\\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts

I have just noticed that when I go to "%windir%\fonts" and check the properties of the font, for some reason it is changing the font name to swiss 721 bt bold condensed_2.ttf but when I try to change it back again it tells me it cant because its in use elsewhere even though its not.

This is driving me completely insane and I need to be able to install new fonts to Photoshop as I am a graphics/web designer and cannot for the life of me understand why all of a sudden it wont install when I have never had any problems in the past.

I was able to install the font on my machine and access it in Photoshop by downloading the font, opening up the font (double click on the actual font file), then on the top left hand corner there should be a button that says 'Install'. Push that and it will install. You probably will have to restart Photoshop after.

This still does no work for me, Photoshop still wont detect the font as being installed...

Its got to be something to do with my font settings rather than Photoshop but as I said, I have never had this issue before so I cannot for the life of me understand what the deal is.

What happens if i just delete the fonts folder and restart? will windows regenerate it or will I have to replace all the standard windows fonts too?

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. I wouldn't delete the fonts folder.

Have you tried restarting your computer since installing the font? Also, sometimes there is another list of fonts in alphabetical order on the bottom of the font list in Photoshop.

Yes I have tried rebooting my computer since installing the font... The thing that is confusing me most is that after i install it, when i check the properties its changing the font name and adding an _2 on the end and I am not sure why it would do this.

The font is definitely not there, when i load photoshop it tells me some fonts are missing are certain layers

EDIT: Just to clarify the font is installed because I have just checked with Word and it works perfectly fine there but photoshop still does no detect it
