  1. Hi, all. Nothing pressing here, just wondering about something. In viewing my stats, I like to check out referrer links that are driving people to visit my site. However, I've noticed that a number of these 'referrers' don't have a link to my site -- so how are people getting to my site from there and/or why are they being counted as a referrer? Sorry if this is a silly (or overly newbie) question -- I was just curious. Let me know. Thanks! J
  2. The description pretty much says it all -- I set up a bulletin board through cPanel and it seems to be working great, except for the fact that most anytime I (or anyone else) logs in, I have to do it twice. Is there something that I'm missing in the options? Is anyone else having this problem with their forum? Any input is appreciated. Thanks! J
  3. Hey, all. Just a weird little question for you... When checking my stats, I notcied under the search engine referrals that people are apparently getting to my site by typing "earthlink-peoplepc-wssynd" Sorry if I'm revealing my web ignorance, but I have no idea what this phrase is or what it means and I can all but guarantee it's not in my site (which is for my band and has nothing to do with ISPs or computers)... Has anyone else seen this or know what this is? Someone, enlighten me... Thanks. J
  4. Howdy, all. Rookie question (hopefully in the right forum). I've created (and tried to bury) a folder on my site that I've only given to a few people -- ie: example.com/hidden/test. However, I've noticed that if I go to example.com/hidden, I get a parent directory page that lets anyone get into the 'test' folder. With my last web host, the 'hidden' directory wouldn't come up without an index.html file -- so what do I need to do to lock this page off? Any help is appreciated... J
  5. Howdy, all. Another newbie question (sorry). We're getting ready to upload a new site, so I'd like to clear out our old site to conserve space. However, I'm new to cPanel (and site maintenance in general) so I'm not sure which files/folders I can delete (my pages) and which ones are necessary for operation (TCH files). Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks again. J
  6. Howdy, all. I've just taken advantage of setting up a BBS through cpanel, but I can't figure out how to change the color scheme... It only gives subSilver as an option and when I tried to create and implement my own color scheme, it didn't take. Can anyone help or point me to a tutorial on this? Thanks! J
  7. Howdy, all. I'm still trying to figure out the file structure for my site in cPanel... The thing I'm wodering now is how much stuff outside of the public_html folder is necessary? I have some files that are both in and outside of public_html -- do I need both? I just want to do a little organizing/house cleaning so I can keep track of things a little better and not duplicate unnecessary files, folders, etc. Can someone give me the rundown on all this stuff? Danke! J
  8. Hi, all. We've just started working with a web design company that is doing a new site for us and planning to take care of all updates, maintenance, etc. so I need to get them login info (username/password). My question is this... Do I need to give them the 'master' login info that was assigned to me when I signed on with TCH or is there a way to set them up with their own '3rd party' username and password? Just wondering since I everything you hear says never to give out your personal login info. Let me know. Thanks!
  9. This feature has been working fine, but I've received a couple emails on my domain account tonight that have not forwarded to my Hotmail account (as I have them set up to do). Seems to have started around 5:00 CST tonight. Is anyone else having this problem? Let me know if you need anymore info from me to check this out. Thanks! 10. So it is a virus, but not one to be worried about? Didn't know there was such a thing... Regardless, I'd rather not have anything or anyone sending emails through my account without my knowledge or permission. I'll scan my machine when I get home. Any thoughts on how this got past my anti-virus software? J
  11. Hi, all. I'm a little freaked out -- I just recently got a couple bouncebacks from emails I never sent, one of which says it was rejected because it matched the criteria for a virus (and both of which had attached .pif files). I have the latest version of Norton Anti-Virus active 24/7 on my machine, but I'm wondering if this slipped by and is spreading through my email account(!) Can anyone help me decipher the bounceback text (below) and let me know what, if anything, I should do next? Also, does TCH do any virus protection on the web mail end, before my email gets downloaded to my machine? Thanks! J P.S. The email address it was sent to is not even one in my address book... ===================================== Re: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. 12. Howdy, all. Not sure if I did something wrong here, but my traffic has pretty much dropped in half since moving to TCH a couple weeks ago (not that our site ever got that many hits, but still...). I'm using the same domain names, same exact site, etc. but still only about half the visitors. Is it possible that I missed/screwed up something during the change over? I can't image that it's host related, but I still can't explain it. Any thoughts? J
  13. That looks like it may work, lstover -- I'll give it a try. I was also snooping around in my cPanel to see if I could figure out a way around this and wondered about the "Modify MX Entry". Not sure what this does, but it looked like it would redirect any mail from one domain to another -- is this a possible solution or am I misunderstanding what that feature is for? J
  14. So an email sent mayname@xyz.com (parked) is not the same as email sent to myname@abc.com (primary)? I assumed that since the domains are parked 'on top' of the primary that the email would be integrated as well... So if I want this to work as 'the same' email address (and I understand this correctly), I need to create 'myname' accounts for all of my parked domains and have them forward to the equivalent primary domain address -- is that right? I suppose this configuration gives me more flexibility, but it seems unnecessarily complex when parked domains are essentailly 'one and the same' with the primary... Anyway, let me know if I'm following this correctly and I'll create the other accounts/forwards. Thanks. J P.S. Is there anyway to get them to be seemless -- ie: have 'parked' emails forward directly to the 'primary' account without even leaving a copy in the 'parked' mailbox?
  15. Hi, all -- back again. I got my email working through my primary domain name, but if I send an email to the same account, but using one of my parked domains, it doens't arrive. For example, I'll receive email at info@abc.com (main domain), but it won't come through info@xyz.com (parked domain). I'm assuming that I should get mail regardless of which domain it's sent to -- so is there something wrong or do I need to do something special to get it to work? Please let me know. Thanks. J P.S. The emails aren't bouncing back either, so it doesn't seem like a problem with the domain...
