  1. I am trying to get a small business off the ground, and it seems I might need a SSL. Is there a how to on doing this with TCH? I have found a splash page with brief info, but I am getting ready to drop the $150 and would like a little hand holding. Others have had to have walked this path before... tutorial? something written on a cocktail napkin? Anything? Thanks!
  2. Hey Guys... I need some help, and thought I'd ask here before submitting a ticket. I upload pics to my site, and keep them in the www/revfan.com/images/ folder. When ever I need a quick reference to an image I have, I just plug www/revfan.com/images/ into my browser and go find the pics I want. within the last week or so, when I put that in and "go" I have been getting a 403 forbidden era... and tonight, when I plugged it in... I am getting asked for my home wireless routers password... Have I been hacked? Also, some of my individual images, when I put their location in the address bar, are getting rerouted to http://cdn.dsultra.com/images/image_redirect/shopwiki.com.jpg Help!
  3. Maybe I am just hardheaded... This seems forum-ish though... does it meet TCH specs? http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:User_guide:Gallery3:Installing_and_upgrading Thanks
  4. I am getting to fly back to the states to visit my friends and family for the summer. Every year when I go back, I take my trusty laptop with me. My cunning plan is to use my folks, friends, free wifi hotspot to use my outlook to download my mail from my home ISP. The problem is that other ISPs don't take kindly to me trying to access my home (in Germany) ISP' for the emails. It took me about 75% of my vacation last year to figure out what I needed to do... and this year I have a new laptop and forgot what I did last time to make it work. So, in an unusual attempt (for me) to be proactive, I wanted to try to set it up BEFORE i left.... Anyone know what I need to do to make my connection more palatable to a "strange" ISP? If I recall correctly, it was something to do with the port Thanks, in advance!
  5. The problem is that there is already a dedicated forum run by the guitar maker my site covers.... and honestly, does anyone really need another forum to be a member of? It sounds like it be getting a jackhammer to drive a few finishing nails. But then again, I've already said I don't know what I am talking about...
  6. Greetings I have a website that is dedicated to collecting a specific company's guitars (Reverend Guitars). I am getting requests from visitors that I create a searchable database that users can upload images to and make changes etc. That might be clear as mud, so let me set the stage. There are less than 5000 musical instruments made by the company. There were various models, options and colors available, and each instrument had a serial number. SN 04111 for example, was a Model: Slingshot Color: Lava Swirl, Neck: Maple, Tremolo:Bigsby, there are some other data fields, but you get the idea. Users want to be able to do a search on the website for Lava Swirl, Slingshot, and get the information for those guitars. Simple enough, but what would be cool is, if you owned SN 04111, then you could upload pictures of it to the database, so that others could see it when they queried the database. Also, if any changes were made to the guitar, users could add that information, for example, tuners switched to Sperzel locking tuners etc. And of course, I want to do this on the cheap. I searched online database softwear and got lots of folks that wanted to sell me a service that will "do it all" for the low price of $300 ever month. Its a labor of love, and not a business site. www.revfan.com Any suggestions? Thanks
  7. I probably posted this in the wrong section earlier... so I will try here. I was checking out my awstats today and saw a bunch of crap has been added it all starts with whewo/ How do I get rid of these? What can I do to protect myself. I am a neophyte... HELP!
  8. OK I have a large (to me) unwieldy website that has a lot of information and graphics ( www.gentlemenoffortune.com ) and I am lazy about updating it as my webskills are lacking and don't really have the time to dedicate learning new software first then updating my site second. The Warden, aka "my wife," only allows a little bit of time off for good behavior per week, so I want to maximize my returns on my "free time". A lot of folks that have seen my site say, "you would be better off using CSS", as right now I am using Front Page (for which, I just know enough to make myself dangerous). Is there a WYSIWYG program for creating CSS websites? I really need some hand holding with this as most programs and tutorials seem to think I am smarter than I really am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance Greg aka GOF
  9. A while back I posted that some spammers were spoofing my gentlemenoffortune.com address and was told that there was really nothing I can do about it.... The latest thing now though is that when I try to send legitimate e-mail, often responding to folks that have used the "comment" button on my site, I am getting rejection notices saying that I have been "banned" from their servers. The messges suggests I go to their website http://dsbl.org/sender Which tells me, in so many words What is this about? Is this something that TCH needs to do or ???? Thanks... in advance Greg aka GoF
  10. I have been getting a ton of the fake jpg message/spam Does anyone know of a good spam filter to take care of these messages? I am using Outlook Thanks Greg
  11. I have a pirate living history website. If I wanted to allow other pirate groups to have a little place on the web UNDER my site (where they have seperate access to it without giving them the keys to "my car"), is that a sub domain? If so, how do I create it? If not, what is it that I would need to do to "create" an independent subsection? Thanks greg www.gentlemenoffortune.com
  12. Hmmmm.... I don't know... Here is an example of a "returned" email.... Does the header tell the story in my favor? Hi. This is the qmail-send program at sincity.telecable.es. 13. My website is www.gentlemenoffortune.com Somebody is sending out spam using my @gentlemenoffortune.com address. Is there ANYTHING I can do to prevent this? Help Greg
  14. I am having the same problem... but it doesn't seem to have an easy answer. lilirose: Wow. Those ARE some great pictures on your site! I am impressed. and Thanks to all the volunteers that help keep this forum a great question and answer place! Greg
  15. I have a lot of information and Pictures up on my website ( www.gentlemenoffortune.com if you are curious ) and I have noticed that there are a few other websites/forums that are using my pictures. They have not copied my pictures and host them themselves but are just providing a "link" to them on my server. It wouldn't be so bad if they added some text with the photo, encouraging them to go to my site, but most of the time, they do not. Is there a way via C-panel or something else to "track down" who is using my bandwidth in this manner? Thanks Greg aka gof
